7 Online Vintage and Secondhand Stores For All Budgets

Whether it’s the age of social distancing, lack of access to quality thrift stores, or even just not having enough time to dig for those secondhand treasures, thrifting and finding quality secondhand pieces can be hard. Luckily, the internet comes to rescue once again. With so many different online vintage and thrift retailers available at so many different price points, we have rounded up our top 7 places to shop second hand so you can find the perfect place to fit your budget and style.

Swap.com
$
If you’re looking for a deal, Swap.com is the way to go. The deals are almost suspiciously good, and the website is clean and easy to navigate. Ann Klien dresses for $7.50 and Nine West sandals for $15 are not uncommon appearances. With free shipping over $60, it’s definitely a website worth checking out.

ThredUP
$-$$
Boasting a huge selection, great search functionality, and up to 90% of retail prices, ThredUP is sure to have something for everyone. There are thousands of new items added every day and the clean layout of the website makes it easy to find just what you’re looking for. Another great perk is that the website offers returns, which is hard to find for a lot of secondhand online retailers. Signing up can get you up to 50% off your first purchase, so it can’t hurt to take a peek.

Beyond Retro
$-$$
Beyond Retro has a large selection of mens and womens vintage clothing, as well as a reworked section where they make new garments out of vintage pieces. They have great prices on interesting pieces, and a fantastic denim section for those looking for a new pair of vintage Levi’s or Wranglers. A really unique feature of the site is the “Shop By Era” feature, which lets you select whether you want to shop garments from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, or 90’s.

Depop
$-$$
Depop is a London-based shopping app available on mobile and desktop. Individual sellers open accounts and post pieces they want to sell, making it a great place to find a whole variety of unique pieces, often at great prices. You can find anything from 80’s YKK crewnecks to items that are still hanging in stores. The apps search function and size filters make it easy to find just what you want in your size and the large user base means that there’s always going to be something new. Most sellers are happy to negotiate prices with you and have conversations about size and fit. Be sure to ask for plastic free packaging!

Poshmark
$-$$
While Depop is filled with trendy, street style savvy users, Poshmark is a bit like their older cousin. Operating on the same peer to peer function, Poshmark users tend to sell less streetwear and have more options for preppy and boho looks. Brands like Kate Spade, Anthropologie, and Free People often make appearances. That’s not to say that there isn’t a variety of clothing available on Poshmark. As one of the most popular reselling apps, Poshmark has a wide range of products available and really great search functionality as well. Similarly to Depop, make sure to have a conversation with the seller about size and fit, since returns are not accepted.

Etsy
$-$$$
Etsy is a website I’m sure all of you have been on at least once, but it’s still worth putting up because of all the unique pieces you can find on there. Hundreds of Etsy sellers sell their vintage, secondhand, or sustainably handmade products on the website and it’s a great place to find something special. Sellers on Etsy tend to have a more curated store compared to Depop and Poshmark, so it should be easy for anyone to find a seller they really love, but prices end up being a little higher. Whether you’re looking for rare deadstock band tees, vintage Japanese kimonos from the 80s, or slip dresses from the 1960’s, anything can be found and the owners of the stores are likely very passionate about the pieces they’re selling.

2nd Street
$$-$$$
2nd Street operates similarly to Buffalo Exchange, where people bring items they’re hoping to sell into the physical store and receive cash in exchange. On the 2nd Street website, you’ll find lots of hyped streetwear brands and luxury brands like Issey Miyake, Bape, Saint Laurent, and Dries Van Norten. Considering the original prices of the clothes, 2nd Street offers some really good deals, and signing up with their website can get you an extra 10% off.

Heroine
$$-$$$
The sister site of menswear reselling giant Grailed, Heroine features the same peer to peer selling platform with similar trendy luxury brands. Prada, Celine, Rick Owens, and Chanel are just a few among the brands sold on Heroine. The messaging platform helps users really understand the piece they’re about to purchase, and unlike a lot of other high end second hand retailers like Vestiaire Collective or Tradesy, Heroine’s customer service will make sure that the product you’re receiving is high quality and will work with you to get any scams get refunded. There’s a large selection of products at great, negotiable prices, and it’s quick and easy to both buy and sell pieces on the website. Whether you’re looking for Grailed-level streetwear or classic luxury brands, Heroine likely has something for you.
